Welcome to the United Neighborhood Councils of Oakland (UNCO) website!

Oakland's Neighborhood Councils (NCs),
also know as Neighborhood Crime Prevention Councils (NCPCs), are volunteer citizen
groups organized around the City's 50-plus police beats. These groups were formed to give residents a voice in promoting
quality-of-life improvements in their neighborhoods and also directing how community policing should be conducted in their areas.
Anyone can join their local Neighborhood Council. It's a great way to get engaged in your community and help bring about positive changes!
UNCO is a citywide association of Oakland Neighborhood Councils, and is not affiliated with the City. This website is intended for everyone: from the person who has never
heard of the Neighborhood Councils and wants to learn more to the experienced NCPC Chair looking for meeting best practices or beat-specific crime statistics.
In addition to being a general resource on Neighborhood Councils, this website also includes UNCO's positions on how to build safer, and more
vibrant, neighborhoods in Oakland.
Thank you for visiting!
